GRIEF & LOSS

Grief is the emotional, physical, and psychological response to loss. It can encompass a wide range of feelings, including sadness, anger, confusion, anxiety, guilt, or even numbness. While grief is commonly associated with the death of a loved one, it can also occur in response to other significant life changes, such as the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or a life-altering health diagnosis.

Grief can impact every area of your life—your relationships, work, and even your sense of identity. It can feel isolating, as if no one truly understands the depth of your pain. However, it is essential to remember that grief is a normal process that takes time. Healing doesn't mean forgetting—it means learning to live with the loss and finding new ways to move forward.

Common Responses to Grief:

  • Emotional Responses: Sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, relief, or even numbness.

  • Physical Symptoms: Fatigue, headaches, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, or aches and pains.

  • Behavioral Changes: Social withdrawal, changes in daily routines, difficulty concentrating, or a sense of disbelief or shock.

Grief counseling offers a safe, supportive space where you can explore your feelings, express your pain, and begin the healing process. It can be helpful whether you are dealing with a recent loss or have been carrying grief for some time. Working with a trained counselor allows you to process your emotions at your own pace while learning strategies to cope and move forward.
